University Celebrates Faculty’s Creative Works at Annual Faculty Author Reception
In 2017, UT Dallas faculty published books on everything from a guide to help single mothers pursuing college degrees to the fundamentals of statistical thinking.
And this year, for the twelfth year in a row, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the Eugene McDermott Library celebrated the published works of faculty members, a UT Dallas alum and a PhD student at the 12th annual Faculty Author Reception held on April 18. About 60 faculty, staff and administrators attended the event, which was held in the McDermott Suite, inside the library.
The McDermott Suite was transformed into an art gallery showcasing commemorative posters of each faculty member and his or her work. Thirty-four faculty members who published a book, theatrical production, photography or art during the past year were honored as well as nine faculty who edited a published piece. Of the faculty members recognized at the reception, six of them were also celebrated last year.
This year’s list of honorees was larger than any in the past and included 34 authors and nine editors and represented every school on campus. Launched in 2006, the Faculty Author Reception gives honorees the opportunity to discuss their publications and share their writing experience with peers and attendees.
